Minor girl raped in Odisha’s Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A minor girl was allegedly raped at Paramanpur village under Sasan police limits in Odisha’s Sambalpur district, late last night.

According to reports, the victim, identified as an 11-year-old girl was sleeping near her grandmother when a youth entered the house around 2 am and forcibly took her near a temple in the locality, where he raped the girl.

She narrated the ordeal to her family members this morning, following which she was taken to VIMSAR in Burla for treatment. Acting on a complaint lodged by the kin of the victim, police have registered a case and started investigation. Efforts are on to identify and apprehend the accused, a police official said.
