Minor girl sustains burn injuries in freak mishap

Bhubaneswar, Aug 21:

A four-year-old girl in Ragunath Nagar in Dumduma area under Khandagiri police limits in Odisha capital today sustained minor burn injuries after she was allegedly subjected to physical torture by the landlord of the house she stays in with her parents. The incident happened when her parents had gone out for work.

She was rushed to the AIIMS hospital in Sijua here after the incident for treatment. The minor was rescued by a passerby, who saw the girl crying of pain and straying on the road after which he informed the local police.

Police said her parents are labourers, who used to leave her in the care of their landlord who hails from the same locality, when they used to go for work.

The police added that the minor girl used to frequently come out of the house and fearing this landlord’s daughter threatened her with a water heater which accidentally touched her.

“Rajendra and Jyoshna, the parents of the minor girl told us that they don’t want to lodge any complaint in this regard,” the police said.

After the incident was aired in media, the Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Satyabrata Bhoi said they are investigating into the matter.
