Kendrapara: Two miscreants in the guise of customers today looted gold ornaments worth around Rs 20 lakh from a jewelry shop at a market complex at Rajanagar here in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.

The incident took place at around 10.00 am at Mahabir Bazaar when the jewelry shop owner Narayan Kund of Bantapatna village was showing the jewelries to two alleged miscreants.

According to reports, the two-bike borne miscreants had asked the store owner of ‘Srimati Alankar’ jewelry shop for the pendants. While showing them a silver anklet, one of them looted 916-hallmark 400 gram gold ornaments including chain, rings and earrings worth around Rs 20 lakh from the shop. They fled from the spot after loot.

“One looter posing as a customer came on a bike to the shop and first asked for a gold pendant. After 10 minutes, another guy came and asked for a silver anklet. Later, they asked for a gold chain. They looted only 916-hallmark gold ornaments,” said the shop owner.

The police reached the spot and initiated a probe to nab the looters.
