Miscreants kill Odisha man by hurling bomb, land dispute suspected

Nayagarh: Unidentified miscreants killed a person at Rajsunakhala in Odisha’s Nayagarh district today by hurling bombs at him.

The deceased has been identified as Santosh Barik, an auto-rickshaw driver by profession and hailing from Banpur in Khordha.

According to reports, five persons came on two bikes and opened fire at Barik around 8.45 am when he was standing near a medicine store. The bullets missed the target following which they hurled a bomb at him and fled the spot.

Police have started investigation into the incident. Though the exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the incident was a fallout of land dispute.

Family members of the deceased said that he was also working as a land broker and had developed rivalry with some locals which could be the reason behind the firing and bombing.
