Miscreants loot gold worth Rs 50 lakh, Rs 9 lakh cash from businessman in Odisha

Rayagada: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh and Rs 9 lakh cash from a businessman at gunpoint near Jamadeipentha under Seskhal police limits in Odisha’s Rayagada district, last night.

According to reports, the businessman, who hails from Parvathipuram in Andhra Pradesh and sells gold ornaments to jewellers in Rayagada district, was returning to the neighbouring state from Rayagada on a scooter.

He was intercepted by two motorcycle-borne miscreants who had covered their faces with masks. They threatened him at gunpoint at looted the ornaments and cash from his possession.

The miscreants fled the spot soon after committing the offence.

The victim has lodged a complaint with the Seskhal police in this regard. Police have started an investigation on the basis of the complaint while efforts were on to identify, trace and nab the wrongdoers.
