Miscreants loot Rs 29 lakh from tollgate staff at gunpoint in Odisha

Unidentified miscreants today at gunpoint looted about Rs 29 lakh from the employees of the tollgate at Godipada near Jankia in Odisha’s Khordha district.

A Tata Nano car in which two employees and an accountant of the tollgate were carrying cash collected at the tollgate to deposit at the bank was hit by a Tavera near Jankia bazaar. At this point of time unidentified miscreants who were following the vehicle in a Pulsar motorcycle from behind brandished a gun at the tollgate employees and snatched away the bag containing the cash. The miscreants later fled the spot, reports said.

The Tata Nano car driver who has been seriously injured in the accident has been hospitalized.

Following an FIR at the Jankia police station, police has launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.

The bag contained Rs 28.85 lakh cash, being the collection proceeds at the tollgate on Sunday and today. Yesterday being Sunday and a bank holiday, the collected cash was lying with the tollgate employees, local sources revealed.
