Mob ties mentally retarded youth to tree, brutally assaults him

Police have rescued a mentally retarded youth who was allegedly tied to a tree and badly beaten up by a mob near Odisha’s Jajpur Road railway station.

This appalling incident has happened on Sunday afternoon in Vyasanagar area near Jajpur Road railway station. A mentally retarded youth–Muhammad Bullet Ali—hailing from Malda area in West Bengal, had got down at the Jajpur Road station yesterday.

The youth allegedly abused locals verbally leading to altercation between them. Angry locals and shopkeepers beat Ali following which Ali got agitated and started attacking people. The mob tied him to a tree and brutally assaulted the mentally unstable youth.

After the news spread, the Vyasanagar tehsildar Swapna Kumar Nanda, Jajpur Road IIC Rajiv Lochan Panda with enforcement reached the spot and rescued him. Panda provided him food and made arrangements to send him back home with the help of Railway police.
