Modi gets rousing welcome in Odisha, terms it “memorable”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Odisha capital today for Bharatiya Janata Party’s two-day national executive meeting at Janata Maidan here, got rousing welcome from public for which he termed it as “memorable”.

“Landed in Odisha to a memorable welcome. Gratitude to the people for the warmth and enthusiasm,” Modi tweeted.

Besides, #OdishaWelcomesModi was seen trending on microblogging site Twitter.

Modi reached Biju Patnaik International Airport here at 3.30 pm in Indian Air Force’s special aircraft Rajhans and was warmly received by Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, BJP leaders Basanta Panda, Bijay Mohapatra, Dilip Ray, KV Singh Deo, Suresh Pujari, Manmohan Samal, Pratap Sarangi, Giridhar Gamang, Pradip Purohit, Chief Secretary AP Padhi and DGP KB Singh.

Modi then paid floral tributes to Odisha’s freedom fighters and legendary personalities on airport premises.

The Prime Minister then proceeded towards Raj Bhavan amid tight security.

On his way to the Governor’s House, Modi enthusiastically waved hands at people who had gathered at roadside to have a glimpse of the PM.

He was felicitated by members of BJP Mahila Morcha in front of the Raj Bhavan.

After a brief halting at the Raj Bhavan, Modi proceeded towards Janata Maidan, venue for BJP’s national executive meeting.

The PM was seen alighting from his car and walking on road at Jayadev Vihar to greet his fans.
