Modi greets nation on Raksha Bandhan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday greeted the nation on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

“On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, I extend my warm wishes to the people of the country,” Modi said in a tweet.

Women from different walks of life tied ‘rakhi’ on Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday to mark the Raksha Bandhan festival.

Among those who tied ‘rakhi’ on Modi’s wrist were widows from Vrindavan and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh as well as members from various women’s groups including the BJP’s women wing.

Schoolchildren, including specially-abled children as well as women MPs from Gujarat, also tied ‘rakhi’, an official statement said.

Minister for Minority Affairs Najma Heptulla and Hindu activist Sadhvi Rithambara also greeted the prime minister on the occasion and tied rakhi on his wrist.
