Bhubaneswar: BJP leader Narendra Modi today took oath as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term.
President Droupadi Murmu administered the oaths of office and secrecy to Modi at a ceremony in front of the Rastrapati Bhawan in New Delhi in the evening.
A 71-member Council of Ministers also took oath on the occasion. Of them, 30 were sworn in as Cabinet Ministers while five as Ministers of State with independent charge and 36 as Ministers of State.
Two Lok Sabha MPs from Odisha—Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram—and Rajya Sabha MP from the state, Ashwini Vaishnaw, took oath as Cabinet Ministers.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has won around 300 seats of the total 543 in the Lok Sabha in the just concluded Parliamentary polls in India.
The Congress party-led INDIA bloc got around 230 seats in the Lok Sabha.
Modi is the second leader after Jawaharlal Nehru to form the government at Centre for the third time in a row.
Under the leadership of Modi, the BJP came to the power by defeating the Congress-led UPA in 2014. The BJP also retained power in the Parliamentary polls in 2019.
Dignitaries including leaders and delegations from foreign countries, top industrialists and several film actors were present at the ceremony.
