Bhubaneswar: In what could be termed as a major respite from heat wave conditions, the Southwest Monsoon today advanced to Odisha covering three districts of the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The monsoon hit most parts of Malkangiri district and some areas of Koraput and Gajapati districts, the agency said.

Conditions are favourable for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon to entire state within the next two days, it added.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued heavy rainfall warning (Yellow Warning) for many districts of the state till June 26.

June 22: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Jajpur.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.

June 23: Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal.

June 26: Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nawarangapur, Nuapada, Koraput, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar.
