Morbi tragedy impact: Odisha’s Dhabaleswar bridge to be closed for a day for inspection

Cuttack: In the wake of the suspension bridge collapse in Gujarat’s Morbi, the Cuttack district administration has decided to close the Dhabaleswar hanging bridge for a day for inspection purpose.

The bridge will remain closed from tonight while a team led by the Additional District Magistrate will visit the spot for safety inspection, informed Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani.

On the other hand, the capacity of the bridge has been reduced from 600 to 200. As per the decision of the district administration, a maximum of 200 people will be allowed to walk on the hanging bridge at a given point of time.

The capacity was lessened after examination by an expert team from Kolkata, yesterday.

The district administration has advised that only those observing Bada Osha Vrat should visit the Dhabaleswar shrine.
