More land allotted for permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today allotted additional for setting up of permanent campus of IIM, Sambalpur.

The State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik decided to grant lease of 18.23 acres of land for establishment of permanent campus of IIM, Sambalpur free of premium and incidental charges. Director, IIM, Indore and Mentor Director, IIM, Sambalpur will pay Rs 100 per acre per annum towards annual ground rent and cess of Rs 75 respectively. The State exchequer would have to forgo around Rs 4.21 crore on non-recurring basis and an amount of Rs 6.67 lakh on recurring basis. Earlier, 181 acres were allotted to IIM, Sambalpur for its permanent campus.

Also, the Cabinet decided to allot 40 acres land for establishment of Bagchi-Sri Shankara Cancer Centre and Research Institute and Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre at Bhubaneswar. The 40 acres in Chandihata mouza of Khordha district has been given free of cost to set up the two institutes.

Also, the government remitted stamp duty and registration fee of Rs 2.92 crore for the Bagchi-Sri Shankara Cancer Centre and Research Institute and Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre.

The government approved a proposal for award of tender to Tata Projects Limited for implementation of Shree Mandira Parikrama Project in Puri city under the Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture (ABADHA) scheme. The Shree Mandira Parikrama Project will be executed at the cost of Rs 331.28 crore in 18 months.

The Cabinet also approved appointment of retired IAS Anjan Kumar Manik as Member of the Odisha Public Service Commission.

A total of 16 proposals were approved by the State Cabinet during its 32nd meeting today.
