More woes: MeT predicts rainfall in Odisha till Dec 13

Bhubaneswar: The local meteorological centre has forecasted that a low pressure over Bay of Bengal is likely to turn depression and trigger rainfall in Odisha till December 13.

The low pressure is likely to intensify into a depression in 12 hours and further into a deep depression, the meteorological centre predicted, adding that there is no possibility of any cyclone.

Under its influence, south Odisha is likely to experience showers from December 7. Rain is also likely to occur in coastal and north Odisha on December 8 and heavy rainfall likely in coastal Odisha on December 9 and 10.

Some parts of the state are also likely to witness rainfall till December 13.

Rain would decrease after December 13 while winter will intensify after that, it predicted.

The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) in a letter has asked the district Collectors to advise farmers to shift their harvested paddy to a safe place and keep it properly stacked under suitable cover so as to avoid any loss/damage due to rain.

The letter further said that where paddy crops are ready for harvest, farmers should take steps to harvest the same and store safely to avoid damage due to rain.

Besides, the SRC has asked District Collectors to take necessary measures to protect the paddy in mandis, if any, against rain.
