BJP alleged that the state government was out to close down OAT because of its own inefficiency.

“Without giving a thought to it, the state government has taken a decision to abolish OAT. This is absolutely a case of non-application of mind by the government. This is arbitrary, anti-people and anti-employees,” said senior BJP leader Biswabhusan Harichandan.

The ruling BJD’s spokesperson and MLA from Junagarh Capt. Dibyasankar Mishra said the issue can be raised in the Assembly and debated.

“The issue can be debated. If they have anything against it, they can raise their points against it in the Assembly. I believe the government will certainly take some steps on it,” said Mishra.

Meanwhile, the OAT Bar Association, which is agitating against the government’s decision, continued with its cease work for the second day today in Cuttack. The OAT Bar Association has warned to intensify its agitation in the coming days.

“The strike will continue till Monday. We will decide on our future course of action after the joint conference to be held on Monday,” said Ullhas Ch Mohanty, president OAT Bar Association Cuttack.

“Our abstention from court will continue till Monday. At 1.15 PM on Monday, we have called a joint meeting of all the associations of Cuttack, including the OAT Bar Association, Bhubaneswar. Thereafter we will decide on our future course of action,” said BP Rath, secretary OAT Bar Association Cuttack.
