MSME Trade Fair in Odisha capital enters fourth day

Regional Manager of Reserve Bank of India, Odisha Zone PK Jena inaugurated the vendor development activity and B2B (Business to Business) seminar at the 4th MSME Trade Fair in the capital city which entered fourth day today.

Addressing the seminar, Jena laid emphasis on the need of MSME directory for incorporation of production and address of MSME units.

“The MSME department must give importance to quality products, infrastructure development, information on requirement, market linkage and other co-activities. Apart from this, the technical education plan must be imparted in educational institutions according to requirement of MSME sector”, he added.

In his address, director I/c, MSMEDI, Government of India, PK Gupta emphasised the need for bridging the gap between mother plants and MSME units.

“The mother plants must assure for purchase the products from MSME units of the state”, he pointed out.

N Palai, Director of state Industries department said the mother plants must take responsibility to choose the downstream and ancillary units as well as adopting modern technology in machinery and productivity etc.

A total of 150 entrepreneurs attended the workshop held today.

The PSUs made presentations on their items they procure from MSMEs and procedure for purchase. The officials from Central PSUs like SAIL (RSP), MCL, NTPC, NALCO participated in the seminar.

The B2B meeting was held in the second session of seminar in which 52 trade enquiries were developed between MSMEs and four PSUs amounting to a business of Rs 52 crore.

The major items include lancing pipes, control panels, refractory items, filter paper, interlining pipes, HDPE oven sacks, PP oven and non-oven sacks, safety shoes and gloves.

Direct interaction and clarifications sought for by the MSME units were also extended while business queries were also clarified by the concerned PSUs in the open house discussion during the session.

Concluding the technical session, secretary, state MSME department Panchanan Dash stressed the importance of vendor development programme, B2B meeting and the special arrangements made for all catering of both existing and prospecting entrepreneurs at one place in the trade fair.

He suggested the participants to take advantage of this type of forum.
