Mystery shrouds death of woman in Kandhamal; murder suspected

Phulbani: A 55-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Sainipada Sahi here in Kandhamal district early this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rangabati Behera, wife of one Narayan Behera of the village.

Prima facie suggested that Rangabati has been killed by someone as her body was found hanging from a custard apple tree, around 15 metre away from her house, with her feet touching the ground.

Family members of the deceased also claimed it as a case of murder. They alleged that the younger son of Rangabati was in love with a girl of Ganjuguda village under Sadar police limits in the district.  Since the girl’s family had been opposing their relationship, they might have killed Rangabati to take revenge.

Meanwhile, Phulbani Town police reached the spot and sent the body to Kandhamal district headquarters hospital (DHH) for autopsy.

Investigation has already begun into the incident, said police.
