Nabin’s love for BJP lasts a year; gets rousing welcome in BJD

Bhubaneswar: Poor man Nabin Swain, who had hosted BJP president Amit Shah for lunch last year in Odisha and was later provided Rs 1 lakh for construction of the house, joined the ruling BJD on Thursday.

Swain (45), a resident of Hugulapata village under Kukudakhandi block of Ganjam district, joined the BJD at a function held at Hugulapata village yesterday.

During a visit of BJP’s chief Amit Shah to Ganjam on July 4, 2017 to attend the party’s ‘Mo booth sabuthu majboot’ (my booth is the strongest) programme, Swain had offered lunch to Shah and other BJP leaders at his dilapidated house at Hugulapata village.

The BJP supremo had promised him to provide financial help for the construction of the dilapidated house.

A few months later, a team of BJP leaders visited Swain’s house and handed over Rs 1 lakh cash as per commitment by Shah to him for construction of a proper house.

According to reports, the poor man had spent the money to reconstruct his house.

However, Swain was attracted to BJD after the latter lured him with sanctioning a new house in his name under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.

Meanwhile, he has announced to refund Rs 1 lakh amount to the BJP that had helped him in his need.
