Nandankanan accident victim dies in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: A person, who was hit by a Lion Safari bus at Nandankanan Zoological Park on the outskirts of Odisha capital, died last night while undergoing treatment in a private hospital here.
The deceased has been identified as Amiya Bharimal of Mahuria village in Khordha district.
On the other hand, family members of Amiya have lodged an FIR against Nandankanan officials alleging that negligence on their part led to the mishap.
Expressing grief over the death, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of the kin of the deceased.
Notably, three persons, including Amiya, were injured after the bus hit them on January 3 while they were roaming inside the zoo, following which they were admitted to a private hospital in the city.
While two of the victims sustained minor injuries, Amiya was undergoing treatment in ICU as his condition was critical.
However, he succumbed to his injuries today.
