Narrow escape for students as school van plunges into pond in Odisha

Berhampur: More than 20 school students had a narrow escape as a van carrying them plunged into a pond at Nuapada under Chikiti block of Odisha’s Ganjam district, today.

According to reports, the ill-fated pickup van was carrying around 24 students to Margadarshi School at Nuapada  when the driver of the vehicle lost control over the wheels. The van soon plunged into a nearby pond and overturned.

Locals rushed to the spot and rescued the victims while one of the students was taken to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here for treatment. Police have started investigation into the incident.
