P Bala Kannamma of Tamil Nadu stunned Odisha’s top seed chess star WGM Padmini Rout after she forced a draw in the seventh round in the 41st National Women Challengers (National “B”) Chess Championship-2014 at Goa today.

Padmini, who lost around 15 ranking points after the end of seventh round, will try to recover in the remaining rounds.

However, another Odisha player, WGM Kiran Manisha Mohanty scored six points and was the joint leader in her group with four others.

Besides, other Odisha players Sunyasakta Satpathy became joint 3rd with 13 others with 5 points each with 17^th rank while Smaraki Mohanty scored four points with 55th rank and Sonali Mishra scored two points with 116^th rank.
