Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced the name of Meenakshi Mahanta as the party’s candidate for Champua Assembly Constituency in Keonjhar district.

BJD State Secretary Bijaya Nayak informed this today.

Since today is the last date for filing nomination papers for the third phase elections in the State, Mahanta, a protégé of Champua Independent MLA Santatan Mahakud, will file her nomination later in the day.

Mahanta is wife of Bhakta Mahanta, a close confidant of Sanatan Mahakud. She was the state president of Jana Samruddhi Party floated by Sanatan Mahakud.
