Naveen lays foundation stone for Odisha Cancer Hospital in Baranga

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today laid foundation stone for the Odisha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre at Ratagarh in Baranga in the presence of Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Trusts.

“The State government is committed towards cancer treatment and has started chemo programme at each district headquarters hospital. All centres are connected to the Acharya Harihar Cancer Centre in our commitment to provide affordable cancer treatment. In the MoU with Tata Trust, 15 care centers will come up in the State. This is a stepping stone in comprehensive cancer care,” said Patnaik.

The Odisha Government had in May, last year signed an MoU with Tata Trusts, Mumbai to set up the state-of-the-art hospital and research centre. As part of the MoU, Tata Trusts will set up and manage the cancer treatment facility and it will be benchmarked to the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.

The Odisha government will facilitate and contribute in setting up the centre by providing land to the extent of 25 acres free of cost, official sources said.

Among others, Health Minister Pratap Jena, MP Bhartruhari Mahtab and Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy were present on the occasion.
