Nayagarh cracker factory blast: STF of Odisha CB begins probe

A Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch today started investigation into the tragic cracker factory blast at Tanti Sahi under Itamati police limits in Nayagarh district in which seven persons have died so far.

A two-member team led by Crime Branch DSP Ramachandra Thamba reached Itamati here today and started probe. It held discussions with Nayagarh SP and SDPO, sources said.

The team is scheduled to visit the spot of incident for detailed investigation.

Notably, the cracker factory caught fire on September 23 evening followed by a massive blast. While two persons died on the very day, four more took their last breath while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack next day. Another person succumbed to injuries at the hospital on September 27.
