The massive landslide Aug 2 blocked the waters of the Sun Koshi river. It also increased the flood threat in India’s Bihar state.

As a result of the landslide, the river turned into a large lake.

The accumulated debris were blasted by the Nepal Army, ensuring the safe passage of water without causing much harm in Nepal and India.

“We had pulled out 10 bodies Saturday and 23 Monday evening,” said Gopal Parajuli, chief district officer of Sindhupalchok district.

Parajuli said 120 people were missing.

Some thousands of people who had taken refuge on higher grounds have started returning to their homes.

At least seven districts of Nepal have been affected by the flood.
