Nephew among three arrested for raping, blackmailing Odisha woman

In an appalling incident, a man, along with his two accomplices, from Odisha’s Bolangir district conned her aunt, got his two freinds to rape her and shot the act on a mobile camera to blackmail her.

On April 22, the accused, Sanoj Nag from Dhumamara village, dropped by at his 40-year-old aunt’s house in Icchapada under Bolangir Sadar Police Station limits.

While the woman was alone at home, the Sanoj invited her to accompany him to a marriage ceremony. The unsuspecting woman agreed and rode pillion with Sanoj.

As part of the planning, Sanoj’s friends–Satya Mallick and Umesh Bhoi – were waiting at Baidipalli village forest. Instead of taking his aunt to the marriage ceremony, Sanoj took her aunt to the forest where Satya and Umesh allegedly raped her and filmed the acts on a mobile phone.

After they were done with their heinous plans, Sanoj dropped the victim at her relative’s place.

On May 15, Sanoj visited her house again and showed the sex video and photographs and demanded Rs 5, 000 from the rape victim.

As her husband was out of station, she remained mum till his return to recount her ordeal. She narrated her horrific ordeal to her husband after he returned home on May 16.

The victim and her husband then filed an FIR with Bolangir Sadar Police Station on May 18. A case (110/2015) was registered under Sec 376 (d) and 506.

Bolangir Sadar Police Station IIC Anand Chandra Majhi arrested Sanoj and two of his accomplices from Dhumamara village.

The victim was sent for medical examination on Monday.

“The accused have admitted to committing the crime. They claimed to have deleted the obscene photographs from the mobile phone. We have recovered the mobile phone on which the accused had clicked the video and photographs,” SDPO Narayan Nayak said.

Further investigation is on, police said.
