NEST begins at 20 centres in Odisha

The All India National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) for admission to the 5-year Integrated M.Sc program in basic sciences – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics – in the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai began at 79 centres in the country including 20 in Odisha this morning.

Students appearing in NEST in BJB CollegeA total of 46,617 students in the country are appearing in the Test.

The test, which began at 9.30 AM, will end at 1 PM.

Of the 20 centres set up in seven major cities in Odisha, 11 are in Bhubaneswar while the remaining nine centres are in Cuttack, Rourkela, Brahmapur, Sambalpur, Bolangir and Jeypore.

Any candidate found adopting unfair means will be expelled from the examination hall without warning.

The question paper will consist of five sections of objective (MCQ) type questions carrying 60 marks in each section.

Section 1 is the general section and is compulsory for all candidates. There will be no negative marking in general section.

There will be subject specific questions from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics in Section II where the candidates are permitted to attempt as many subject-sections as they wish. However, only the best three subject-scores along with the score in the general section will be counted for evaluation and merit list preparation.

The questions are designed to test candidates’ subject comprehension and analytical ability.

There will be negative marking for incorrect answers. Some questions may have one or more correct answers for which marks can only be earned by marking all correct answers and no wrong answer. The answers to each question are to be marked on an OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheet.

The syllabus for NEST 2015 primarily follows the NCERT/ CBSE science syllabus of class XI-XII.

However, there is no specific syllabus for the general section.
