New broad gauge line between Odisha’s Jeypore and Nabarangpur sanctioned

New Delhi: Ministry of Railways has sanctioned new broad gauge line between Jeypore and Nabarangpur in Odisha at an estimated project cost of Rs 747.91 crore.

The project was announced in 2016-17 Budget.

Worth mentioning, the 38 km broad gauge line will be completed in three years ant it will be implemented on cost-sharing basis where Railways and state government would bear it on 50:50 ratio.

The project assumes significance as it would connect Nabarangpur district of Western Odisha with Jeypore, an existing station on Kottavalasa- Kirandul line. This line will provide connectivity to important towns such as Koraput, Jeypore, Jagdalpur, Dantewada. Further, the line is useful for connecting Nabarangpur to Junagarh in Kalahandi district and result in short lead to many other places of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.
