Addressing a press conference here today the president of the newly-launched SWP Niranjan Mohanty said SWP’s slogan is ‘Gram Bachao, Dadan Hatao’ and that it is all set to contest the upcoming general election by raising a host of issues like- eradication of bonded labour, strengthening agricultural economy, safety of women and children, industrialization, reducing power tariff, education for poor families, emphasis on employment-based technical education etc, in the state.

Mohanty said Odisha’s agricultural sector lags far behind as compared to other states in the country. He said  most of the land in the state remains infertile, forcing many to migrate to other states in search of livelihood. They are ultimately compelled to work as dadan or bonded labourers, he pointed out.

“We dare to challenge the big regional parties in the state by our clear-cut manifesto,” Mohanty said adding, his party is likely to get a symbol from the Election Commission shortly.
