Bhubaneswar, Jun 24:
Students taking admission in the Plus Two streams in Odisha this year will have to appear two annual examinations.
A proposal to this effect has been given by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) to the Higher Education department.
As per the proposal, the students will have to appear in one annual examination each in the first year. The examination will be of objective type with 50 marks for each paper while the students will have to write their answers in the OMR sheet. The duration of the examination will be one hour.
The annual Plus Two results will be announced by adding the marks secured by students in the first year with the marks they have secured in the final examination.
“The reason for the poor performance of our students in the all India entrance test is that they are not reading the fundamental subjects properly in the first year. Keeping this in mind, we have decided to introduce the new examination format from this year to ensure better future of the students despite the extra burden on us it would entail,” CHSE chairman Prof Basudeb Chhatoi told the media here on Tuesday.
He, however, said there will be no change in the examination infrastructure.
“All measures like safety of question papers and deployment of observers in each examination centres taken by the Council in the annual examinations will be followed during the annual Plus Two first year examination,, he added.
“We are examining the proposal of the CHSE and decision would be taken at the earliest,” said Higher Education minister Pradip Kumar Panigrahi.
