New subjects to be introduced in two govt colleges

The Higher Education department has received a proposal from the state government to introduce new subjects with additional seats in two government colleges.

In a letter to the director, Higher Education, deputy secretary Nivedita Prusty has moved a proposal to this effect.

The government has proposed to open MPhil in History, English and Education in Khallikote Autonomous College at Brahmapur with eight seats each from 2014-15 academic session.

Besides, it has also proposed to increase seats for Botany and Zoology Honours in Rajdhani College, Bhubaneswar by 16 and 32 respectively from the 2013-14 session.

However, the government has made it clear that there would be no provision of additional teachers and the teaching workload would be managed within the existing sanctioned strength for the colleges.

Besides, there would be no sanction for additional funds and staff during the current academic session 2013-14 and the classes would be managed by the existing infrastructure, the letter pointed out.
