Newborn baby girl abandoned in garbage in Odisha’s Ganjam, dies

Patrapur: A newborn baby girl was found abandoned in garbage in premises of a health centre in Odisha’s Ganjam district and died at Berhampur medical college and hospital following treatment.

The baby was rescued from garbage and shifted to Berhampur medical college and hospital where she died following primary treatment.

According to reports, the newborn was found abandoned in the garbage at Patrapur Community Health Centre (CHC) campus. Hearing cry of a baby, Govardhan Karpati, a class IV employee of the health centre, rescued her.

The baby was assumed to have been abandoned by someone after delivery. The premature baby weighed only 900 gm.
