News 18 reporter succumbs to COVID-19 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The deadly COVID-19 claimed another journalist’s life in Odisha today.

Prabir Pradhan, the reporter of News 18 Odia succumbed to the virus in the morning while undergoing treatment at the Aditya Ashwini COVID Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The 35-year-old Prabir is surviving by his wife and a 3-year-old daughter.

A month ago, his father had passed away due to COVID-19.

Prabir was under home isolation after his father had tested positive for Coronavirus. After completing home quarantine period, he had joined his duty.

Later, he was admitted to the COVID hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and his condition deteriorated last week. He was put on a ventilator yesterday. He breathed his last in the morning today.

Prabir, a native to Athamallik in Angul district, had started his career in ETV News Odia. After the Network 18 owned the channel, he worked for the News 18 Odia channel.

Many journalists have died of Coronavirus in a past few months in Odisha. The scribes including Simanchal Panda of a weekly Odia magazine, Priyadarshi Patnaik of ‘The Samaja’ and K. CH. Ratnam of ‘Eenadu’ have succumbed to COVID-19.
