Next 15 days will be more challenging: CM Naveen on COVID-19 situation in Odisha

Bhubaneswar:  Appreciating  efforts of all stakeholders involved in the united fight against COVID-19 in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik cautioned them of the challenges to be faced in the next 15 days with resumption of flights and railway services.

While reviewing COVID-19 situation in the state, Patnaik today suggested the officers to plan a fortnight of serious awareness creation on social distancing, wearing of masks and frequent hand hygiene among people.

Besides, the CM also expressed his happiness as Odisha has become one of the leading states in the country in terms of  testing and has also been able to establish decentralized testing facilities in every part of the state.

“Testing has to be smart to take care of our frontline workers and vulnerable population,” said Patnaik.

He further said, “95 % of our positive cases are from quarantine centers. This shows the robustness of our system and the efforts put by Sarpanchs, people’s representatives and the entire Government machinery from top to bottom cutting across departments. The humane work done by police in ensuring zero walking inside Odisha is praiseworthy”.

Apprehensive of the challenges following resumption of flight and train services, Patnaik said, “The coming 15 days to a month will be more challenging but I am sure we will handle the same in a professional manner with a human face.”

The CM also appreciated efforts of all those who managed COVID-19 and cyclone situation simultaneously and thanked the people of state for their sacrifice and cooperation with the Government.
