Nigerian arrested in Odisha capital for possessing fake passport

Bhubaneswar: A Nigerian national has been arrested in Odisha capital on charges of possessing fake passport.

Chandrasekharpur police under Twin City Commissionerate detain the foreign national identified as Amadi Victor Blaze last night for questioning. The National Narcotics Control Bureau has been following Blaze for his suspicious activities.

Following hours of interrogation, the African citizen has been arrested today, police sources said.

The accused was having a passport of the United Kingdom in the name of Mark Brown.

We had information that he might be carrying contraband or drugs. On that basis, we conducted a body search after which a color photocopied passport was found from his possession. As our suspicion grew, we handed him over to Chandrasekharpur police,” said Pranit Sharma, Superintendent of NCB.

Police sources said that he was staying in Mumbai and had come to Bhubaneswar few days ago.

“Narcotics Control Bureau was tracking him. Upon interrogation, it came to the fore that he was carrying a fake passport. He has been arrested and forwarded to court. As he is a foreign national, we are fulfilling the formalities,” Bhubaneswar DCP Arun Kumar Sahu said.

Worth mentioning, at least 12 foreign nationals have been arrested from Odisha in the last four years.
