National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela is going to organize Research Scholars Week (RSW) beginning on May 11.
The three-day event is the first of its kind in the history of NIT Rourkela for all the research scholars of the institute to showcase research being carried out at our institute and facilitate knowledge sharing, seamless interactions among budding researchers of varied disciplines of the institute that will instill motivation, confidence and research endeavour in their minds which will lead to innovation in Science & Technology, said NIT PR secretary RK Sinha in a release today.
With this motivation, RSW is being planned whereby research scholars, who have completed three years, will have to showcase their work through posters, software/hardware demonstration, and list of achievements (publications/patents) certified by the supervisor at Rajendra Mishra Exhibition Hall.
Each day will witness expert lecture by eminent researchers in board thematic area followed by poster presentation. The best posters selected from first two days will be given an opportunity to present again on the final day, where a global selection will be made and the best presentation will be awarded “Research Scholar of the Year”.
The best presentation from each department will also be given a “RSW Award”.
While the exhibition hall of the institute will be the venue for the programme, the inaugural session will be held at BB Auditorium of the institute.
Prof Lalit Mohan Patnaik, Professor Emeritus, Indian Institute of Science (IIS), Bengaluru and distinguished alumni of the NIT Rourkela, will be chief guest while Prof Sunil Kumar Sarangi, director, NIT, will preside over the inaugural session.
Prof B Majhi, Dean, Academic Affairs, will be the convenor of the programme, the release added.
