Nitish Kumar to meet Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on May 5 for Opposition unity

Bhubaneswar: In what could be termed as a significant political development ahead of the 2024 polls, Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) supremo Nitish Kumar will visit Odisha on May 5 and meet CM and BJD president Naveen Patnaik in a bid to unify opposition against the BJP, media reports said.

Worth mentioning, the BJD has been maintaining equal distance from the BJP and the Congress. However, the regional party has supported the BJP government in passing several Bills in the Parliament.

Nitish has already met West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) head Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow. He was accompanied by Bihar Deputy CM and RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav.

Nitish has been meeting his counterparts to bring together various parties to form an anti-BJP alliance for the 2024 elections.

Last month, Nitish met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, and Left leaders Sitaram Yechury and D Raja.
