NKS roars for price, pension and prestige in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Thousands of farmers under the banner of Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) today staged a dharna for indefinite period at Lower PMG in Odisha capital demanding ‘price, pension and prestige’ for farmers of the state.

Convenor of the farmers’ body Akshay Kumar said the agitation will intensify and reach at the grassroots level if the state government fails to fulfill their demands.

Worth mentioning, the NKS has been demanding hike of minimum support price (MSP) for paddy to Rs 5,000 per quintal and pension of Rs 5,000 per month for 36 lakh farmers of the state.

Activists of the NKS led by its advisor Soumya Ranjan Patnaik had earlier staged rallies in various parts of Odisha to press their demands.
