NMYS to observe ‘World No Tobacco Day’ in Odisha on May 30

Bhubaneswar, May 27:

Nasha Mukti Yuva Sankalp (NMYS),a youth forum working for drug de-addiction and tobacco control in Odisha, is going to observe “World No Tobacco Day-2014” in association with the CHSE NSS Bureau and Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD), an Odisha-based NGO, for two days beginning on May 30.

No-tobaccoThe youth forum, as part of its activities, will have a consultation meeting with the media along with cancer specialists on hazards of tobacco at 9 am at Gandhi Bhawan near Sunshine Field in Cuttack on 30th May, 2014.

In the state capital, the NMYS volunteers would perform street plays at different public places on May 30 followed by an awareness rally and street plays in the next morning at 7 AM.

Later in the day, a Sankalpi Samavesh would be held at the CYSD premises where Dr SN Senapati, head of the department of Oncology, Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre, Cuttack will (HoD, Oncology, will talk about the hazards of tobacco.

A documentary film “Salaam Jiban” and a newsletter “Nishamukti Samachar” will be released while a photo exhibition on tobacco control and will be on the display at the Samavesh.

Besides, individuals and organisations would be felicitated with Sankalpi Samman for their continuous efforts and awareness activities on de-addiction.
