No bus service in several routes of Odisha from January 1!

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Bus Owners’ Association today warned of suspending bus services in several routes of the state from January 1, 2022 if its demands are not met.

Demanding prompt repair of NH-55, the association decided to stop bus services between Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur today from 6 am to midnight.

“We have been demanding the repairing of NH-55. A letter was also written to the state government in this regard. However, the work is undergoing at snail’s pace. Buses plying in the route are not reaching destinations within the scheduled time. The vehicles are also getting damaged due to the poor condition of the road,” said association’s secretary Ajay Barik.

“This was a symbolic agitation by us today. If our demands are not fulfilled, we will stop bus services in the routes for indefinite period from January 1,” he said.

All buses plying in the routes will bear black flags from tomorrow as a mark of protest, he added.
