No entry to BMC office in Odisha capital as over 20 staff test COVID-19 positive

Bhubaneswar: Entry to office of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was restricted here for public as over 20 staff tested positive for COVID-19.

As many as 20 BMC employees have tested positive for COVID-19, an official source said today.

Following detection of COVID cases on premises of the BMC office, the restriction on public entry to the building has been imposed. Other employees of BMC have undergone RT-PCR test today and the office will be sanitised to contain further spread of infection, he said.

The State today registered a huge spike in daily COVID cases breaching 10,000-mark for the first time nearly after 8 months. Of 10,059 cases, Khordha district reported the highest of 3,188 followed by Sundargarh district with 1,348 and Cuttack district with 870 cases in last 24 hours.
