No mask, no vegetables & groceries in Odisha district

Berhampur:  No mask while stepping out? Then you would probably not get groceries, vegetables or any essential item in the market.

As the state Government has announced mandatory use of face mask from April 9 (today), the Ganjam administration today asked all shopkeepers across the district to put up a signboard in front of their stores requesting people to wear face mask else, they will be denied purchasing the essential items like vegetables, groceries and even medicines .

Ganjam is the first district in the state to take the strict initiative to curb spread of the deadly virus. The state Government has said that people found not wearing mask while stepping outside to avail essential services. Each person will be fined of Rs 500 in rural area and Rs 1000 in urban area with effect from today.

In another preventive step, the Ganjam administration today began door-to-door screening of the residents across the district today. Health workers are visiting door-to door and collecting report of symptoms like fever, cold, cough and breathing problems.
