No mid-day meal without Aadhaar in Odisha after July 31!

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has directed the officials to fill in the Aadhaar number of the students studying in elementary and secondary schools in the database by July 31, mandatory to avail benefits under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and mid-day meal schemes.

The School and Mass Education Department has instructed the District Education Officers (DEOs), District Project Coordinators (RTE-SSA) and Block Education Officers (BEOs) to update school and class wise student data in Student Database Management Information System (SDMIS) database for 2017-18 and tagging Aadhaar number of each student, as per the mandate of the Union government.

“The school headmasters and teachers shall collect the copies of the Aadhaar cards of each student in respective schools and record the UID numbers against the students in school register by July 15. In case of non-availability of Aadhaar card with any student, the Aadhaar enrolment receipt may also be collected if the Aadhaar enrolment is done,” School and Mass Education Secretary Ranjana Chopra said in the letter to the concerned officials.

The list of students who have not been covered under Aadhaar enrolment may be prepared and reported to concerned BEOs for facilitating them to get enrolled for Aadhaar immediately, she further said.

This apart, the privately managed schools have also been instructed to abide by the process.
