Bhubaneswar, May 27

The Odisha government today assured that there would be no further power cut in the state as it has completed all major repair and maintenance works.

power“We have to sort out some technical problems in Nabarangpur under SOUTHCO, near Atabira under WESCO. Besides, a transformer, which has gone out of order in Jajpur under NESCO, needs replacement. Since we have completed repair and maintenance works in most of the areas, there would be no prolonged power cuts henceforth barring low voltage problems at some places”, said Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, principal secretary, Energy, to the media here.

He also said the power cut in Bhubaneswar was a result of two broken extra high tension (EHT) towers at Nachuni near Balugan.

“However, we are able to divert 50 MW from other sub-stations to meet the requirement. The state government has embarked on a long term plan for laying more 11 KV and 33 KV cables”, Mohapatra said.

He also informed that there would be no shortage of hydro power in the state as there are sufficient water in all major reservoirs in the state.
