Bhubaneswar: The Commissioner of Police for Cuttack and Bhubaneswar Sudhanshu Sarangi today clarified that ID card is not a privilege to be used for personal purposes.
In a tweet, the CP said ID card and vehicle passes that have been issued to the citizens to support their professional obligations can not be used for personal works like buying vegetables and groceries during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“Please walk down to the nearby shop like every other individual. All are equal,” Sarangi tweeted.
The Twin City Police Commissioner, who has always encouraged direct address to queries raised by commoners, tweeted this in reply to a query over use of ID card and vehicle pass for personal obligations.
Did you go to buy vegetables? The ID card is to be used for official purposes. No one is permitted to use pass/ID Card to buy vegetables & grocery items. Please walk down to the nearby shop like every other citizen. All are equal. ID card is not a privilege.
