No power cuts till April end: Odisha govt

In a major relief to the denizens of the state, the Odisha government today announced that there will be no power cut in the state till the end of April this year.

The state government hoped to tide over any possible deficit through conserved hydro power and power banking.

“We will be getting power from Delhi and Punjab via power banking. The government has taken a decision not to resort to power cut till the end of April this year,” announced Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das here today while speaking to reporters after the end of a meeting to take stock of Energy department’s action plan to overcome power shortfall.

It was decided at the meeting that the state would be drawing 400 MW power from Delhi and Punjab through the power banking mode.
