No proposal from Odisha govt for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack metro trains: Union Minister

Bhubaneswar: The Central Government has not received any proposal from the Government of Odisha regarding metro train services between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, informed Kaushal Kishore, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, in the Rajya Sabha, yesterday.

Replying to a question by MP Manas Ranjan Mangaraj, Kishore said as per the Metro Rail Policy, 2017, respective State Government/ Union Territory (UT) is responsible for initiating metro rail projects. The Central Government considers financial assistance for such projects in cities or urban agglomerates, based on feasibility of the proposal and availability of resources, as and when posed by the concerned State Government/ Union Territory (UT).

No proposals for Metro Trains for the cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have been received from the Government of Odisha, he said.
