No trial run on Haridaspur-Kendrapara line today: ECoR

Bhubaneswar: People eagerly waiting to avail train services on Haridaspur-Kendrapara route will have to wait a little longer as East Coast Railway (ECoR) has refuted the reports of trial run on this route this morning.

Reacting to media reports of trial run, an ECoR spokesperson clarified that there was no trial run on Haridaspur-Kendrapara route today. In fact, it was a tower car which is used for inspection and maintenance of overhead electric transmission equipment of routes that are electrified.

Wouldn’t we inform media if train run will be scheduled, he said.

Worth mentioning, the 82-km Haridaspur-Paradip railway line project is nearing completion. With the launch of service, commuters in Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts will be benefitted.

The foundation stone for the project was laid by the then Railway minister Nitish Kumar in 1999, which was sanctioned in 1996-97.

The project was to be completed in March this year. However, officials expect it to be over by this December.
