The agitated villagers had locked the main gate of the factory preventing workers from entering the factory premises until the matter was settled. Sensing a law and order situation, one platoon policemen were deployed near the plant premises while Motanga police kept a close watch over the situation.

The situation came under control and dharna was lifted after factory authorities promised to pay a compensation of Rs 12 lakh to the family of the deceased and a job for a member of the family.

Luckily there was no one other than Subash on duty near the acid tank; otherwise, the casualties could have been much higher, sources said. The cause of the explosion however, is not known yet.
