Nor’Wester disrupts normal life in Odisha capital

Normal life was disrupted in the Odisha capital after heavy rain accompanied by strong wind lashed the city for more than two hours on Tuesday night.

RainWhile the day was quite sunny, weather changed suddenly around 6 PM in the evening and thunder shower accompanied by strong wing lashed the city. The rain continued till 9 PM.

Most parts of the city remained in darkness for about two hours due to power failure as big tress fell on KV lines.

The flags atop the Lingaraj temple in the Old Town was blown away by the strong wind. Besides, several trees were uprooted nearby Market Building areas and in front of the State Assembly disrupting vehicular traffic for hours.

Areas in Rasulgarh, Bomikhal, Laxmisagar, Unit-1, Unit-2, Old Town and Kalpana Square remained in darkness till 11 PM.
